Dot Day
Dot Day is celebrated on September 15th and is all about celebrating the dot. The book The Dot, written by Peter Reynolds, inspired this celebration. For our Dot Day project, students will use markers, crayons, and watercolors to design an art piece using coffee filters. Each student will be given a circle to design an image of their choice, which should include a dot, connecting it with the Dot Day theme.
Extended Activity: To start off, I will read The Dot to the students. After reading the story, I will ask the students to look around the classroom to find dots. When they find a dot, they will design it on a piece of paper using markers, crayons, paper, and watercolors, copying the image of what they find. On the same sheet of paper, they will also design their own dots, using any materials they want.
